The Lodge has 6 similar self-catering chalets. Meals can be selected from our wholesome farm menu and enjoyed in the privacy of your chalets, at the one of the viewing decks or in the farmhouse dining room. We provide delicious picnic baskets and barbeques. Our flexibility is unique so talk to us as we endeavour to accommodate your requests.

Facilities:

A favourite spot is a the main boma deck perched overlooking one of our dams, where you can see our shy Marsh Terrapins sunning themselves on the banks while Red Bishops hang out amongst the reeds and the larger mammals from the tallest giraffes to the diminutive baby warthogs gather to drink. Another setting to escape to, the quaint river boma at the concourse of the Karkloof and Umgeni where otters play and often, the call of an African Fish Eagle is heard.

In Room:

The 6 thatched chalets are all elegantly decorated and furnished in neutral African colours making them a restful and relaxing space. The airy rooms opening downstairs onto wooden viewing decks where you will find the wild life almost close enough to touch. Let Ukuthula Lodge be your home away from home.

A definite highlight would be the beautiful walking trails for nature lovers, which are perfect for hiking, running or cycling for those with an energetic disposition. In the Karkloof foothills overlooking Albert Falls Dam, the view from each thatched villa is magnificent - from open grassland, African bushveld to steep valleys

Directions:  

Directions are very easy. From N3 take the Old Greytown Road (Chota Motala) off ramp, its the one between Ohrtman Road and the Liberty Mall off ramps. Go towards Greytown, you will go through a couple of sets of traffic lights. Keep to the LHS. Before the Northway Spar and Shopping centre, bear left into Otto's Bluff Road. Follow the road through Mountain Rise, through Claridge, Otto's Bluff becomes a good gravel road. Once on the gravel section the farm gates are on the LHS exactly 7.4 kilos. Once on the gravel you will pass a road to the right to Otto's Bluff Station, pass Mahatunzi on the left and the D495, Over the Dorpspruit stream, past Tokosiza on the right, around an s bend up a small hill and continue another 800 or so metres and our gate on the LHS with a big white sign with two giraffe under an acacia tree. We do ask that guests call when close so we can come down to main gate to meet them as need to open the main gate and escort them to their accommodation.
